First seen Feb 21, 2026 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 9 times

Summary

This study tested whether giving households a low-sodium salt substitute (with potassium replacing some sodium) through community health workers could lower blood pressure. About 618 adults in rural Bangladesh took part. The goal was to see if this simple dietary swap could reduce high blood pressure, a major cause of heart attacks and strokes.
