First seen Mar 19, 2026 · Last updated May 01, 2026 · Updated 8 times
Summary
This study tested whether a lighter exercise method using blood flow restriction can reduce low back pain as well as heavy weightlifting in male athletes aged 18-24. Sixty-four athletes with sub-acute low back pain (lasting 4-12 weeks) were assigned to either low-load blood flow restriction training or traditional heavy-load resistance training. The goal was to see if the lighter approach could ease pain and improve function while putting less strain on the spine.
