First seen Jan 02, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 16 times
Summary
This study tested whether a low-FODMAP diet (which limits certain carbohydrates) can reduce symptoms and improve quality of life in people with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). 183 adults with IBS were split into two groups: one received education on the diet, the other did not. Researchers tracked symptom severity and quality of life over six months to see if the diet helped.
