Cheaper shot aims to ease crippling joint pain for hemophilia patients
NCT ID NCT06543368
Summary
This study tested a lower-cost method for preparing platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injections to treat painful, swollen joints caused by bleeding into the joints (hemarthropathy), often seen in conditions like hemophilia. Fourteen adult participants with ankle, knee, or elbow pain received up to two injections and reported on their pain, stiffness, and satisfaction over six months. The main goal was to see if this affordable method could be done safely and was feasible, potentially making this treatment more accessible.
