NCT ID NCT04292080
First seen Feb 04, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 22 times
Summary
This study tests whether taking an oral medication (dimethyl fumarate) for 12 months can slow the growth of geographic atrophy, a form of advanced age-related macular degeneration that causes blind spots. About 90 participants aged 55–85 with geographic atrophy will receive the drug to check safety and whether it reduces the size of the damaged area in the eye. The goal is to control disease progression, not cure it.
