Summary

This study follows 172 adults over two years to compare cardiovascular function among four groups: vapers who previously smoked, vapers who never smoked, people who both vape and smoke, and ex-smokers who do not vape. Researchers measure blood vessel health, lung function, and blood markers of heart disease risk. The goal is to understand whether long-term vaping poses heart risks, especially for those who never smoked.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only, not medical advice or a prediction.

What this could lead to
If clear differences emerge, this could guide public health advice on vaping as a smoking alternative.
What could go wrong
This is an observational study, not a controlled trial, so it cannot prove cause and effect. Results may be influenced by other lifestyle factors.

This is an AI summary of the original study and may miss details. Read our disclaimer.
