Study tests gentler anesthesia option for older Veterans' hernia surgeries
NCT ID NCT04706026
Summary
This is a small pilot study to gather information for planning a larger future trial. It will compare local anesthesia (numbing just the surgical area) to general anesthesia (being fully asleep) for inguinal hernia repair in Veterans aged 60 and older. The main goal is to test study procedures, see if they can recruit enough participants, and identify the best ways to measure outcomes like recovery and satisfaction.
