Study tests gentler anesthesia option for older Veterans' hernia surgeries

Summary

This study is gathering information to plan a larger future trial comparing local anesthesia to general anesthesia for inguinal hernia repair in Veterans aged 60 and older. About 80 participants will be randomly assigned to receive either local or general anesthesia for their surgery. The main goal is to test study procedures, measure outcomes like pain and recovery, and see if a full-scale trial is feasible.
