Liver scan may predict surgery failure risk

NCT ID NCT02753517

First seen Apr 25, 2026 · Last updated May 20, 2026 · Updated 6 times

Summary

This study looked at whether a special liver scan (hepatobiliary scintigraphy) can predict the risk of liver failure after major liver surgery. 326 adults without cirrhosis who needed large liver resections were included. The goal was to see if the scan's measurement of liver function is better than standard CT scans at predicting complications.
