New approach to Post-Surgery pain could reduce opioid dependence

NCT ID NCT03238430

Summary

This study tested two different pain management methods for patients recovering from liver surgery. Researchers compared continuous local anesthetic injections with spinal pain relief to see which better reduces morphine use after surgery. The goal was to find safer pain control options that might also lower the risk of developing long-term chronic pain.
