New liver support method aims to boost recovery in severe liver failure

NCT ID NCT07593638

First seen May 20, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study tests whether a combination of blood filtering (hemoadsorption) and half-dose plasma exchange can help adults with acute-on-chronic liver failure (ACLF) recover or stay stable until a liver transplant. About 240 participants will receive either this liver support protocol or standard care. The main goal is to see if the treatment reduces death or the need for transplant within 28 days.
