Sugar shock test during surgery could unlock fatty liver secrets
NCT ID NCT07326865
Summary
This study aims to understand how the liver reacts to sugar in people with obesity who are having weight-loss surgery. Researchers will compare 40 patients with and without fatty liver disease (MASLD), giving some a sugar solution and others salt water during their operation. By taking tiny tissue samples before and after, they hope to learn why MASLD develops and find clues for future treatments.
