New test aims to make risky liver procedure safer
NCT ID NCT04421924
Summary
This study is testing whether using a special blood clotting test (thrombelastography or TEG) before a liver shunt procedure is safer and more effective than standard tests. It involves 39 adults with liver cirrhosis who need the shunt. The goal is to see if this test better guides doctors on whether to give blood products to reduce bleeding risk without causing other complications.
