New test may reveal hidden cancer after liver ablation
NCT ID NCT01494324
First seen Jan 10, 2026 · Last updated May 25, 2026 · Updated 19 times
Summary
This study looks at tissue from liver tumors that were destroyed by heat or cold (ablation). The goal is to see if a special test can tell whether the treatment fully killed the cancer or if new cancer cells are growing. Standard CT scans can't always tell the difference between new cancer and healthy liver changes. The study involves 150 people with liver cancer that spread from another part of the body. Researchers hope this test will help doctors know sooner if more treatment is needed.
