Leg lift before surgery may prevent dangerous blood pressure drops in seniors
NCT ID NCT07549152
First seen Apr 24, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 3 times
Summary
This study tested whether placing elderly patients with high blood pressure in a legs-up position just before anesthesia could prevent a sudden drop in blood pressure. Sixty patients aged 65-80 were randomly assigned to either a standard lying-flat position or a lithotomy (legs raised) position. The goal was to see if this simple, no-cost change could keep blood pressure stable and reduce the need for emergency medications.
