New blood test could replace needle biopsies for breast cancer monitoring

NCT ID NCT04480814

First seen Jan 06, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 17 times

Summary

This study tested a new blood test (liquid biopsy) to find cancer DNA in 30 women with advanced ER+/HER2- breast cancer. The goal was to see if the test could detect cancer changes in blood as accurately as standard tissue biopsies. If successful, this could allow doctors to monitor cancer without repeated invasive procedures.
