Blood test may speed up cancer diagnosis in advanced cases

NCT ID NCT05846594

First seen Jan 04, 2026 · Last updated May 25, 2026 · Updated 22 times

Summary

This study looked at whether using a blood test (liquid biopsy) early in the diagnosis process could help people with advanced lung or gastrointestinal cancer get diagnosed and start treatment sooner. 463 adults with suspected advanced cancer that had not yet been confirmed took part. The study compared the time to diagnosis and treatment recommendations when using the blood test alongside standard tissue biopsy versus standard care alone.
