New ultrasound method may spot lipedema earlier
NCT ID NCT07536646
First seen Apr 25, 2026
Summary
This study tested a special ultrasound technique called shear wave elastography to see if it can measure tissue stiffness in women with lipedema, a painful fat disorder. Researchers compared 95 women with and without lipedema to find differences in leg and belly fat stiffness. The goal is to improve diagnosis and tell lipedema apart from other conditions like obesity or lymphedema.
