New study combines baby checkups with birth control to help moms plan families
NCT ID NCT04092530
First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 25 times
Summary
This study tested a new way to help new mothers get birth control soon after giving birth. Instead of separate appointments, the researchers scheduled contraception care at the same time as the baby's well-baby visit. Over 2,500 women took part at community health centers. The goal was to see if this approach made it easier for mothers to get contraception within two months after delivery, which can help prevent closely spaced pregnancies that pose health risks.
