Light therapy for brain cancer shows promise but trial halted early

NCT ID NCT03897491

First seen Jun 03, 2026 · Last updated Jun 13, 2026 · Updated 3 times

Summary

This study tested a new approach for glioblastoma, an aggressive brain cancer. Doctors injected a light-sensitive drug into the tumor and then activated it with a special laser. The goal was to see if it was safe and could help control the cancer. The trial was stopped early after enrolling only 17 people, so results are limited.
