Spray and low-dose drug may ease breathing tube placement during ERCP

NCT ID NCT07185074

First seen Oct 01, 2025 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 37 times

Summary

This study tests if using a lidocaine spray (numbing medicine) along with a low dose of a muscle relaxant can make inserting a breathing tube easier during an ERCP procedure. The goal is to use less muscle relaxant while still achieving good intubation conditions. 188 adults with liver problems scheduled for ERCP will be randomly assigned to receive either the low-dose muscle relaxant plus lidocaine spray or the standard dose of muscle relaxant alone. The study will compare how well the tube is placed and recovery times.
