Summary
This study tests a new drug, LHP588, in 300 people with mild to moderate Alzheimer's disease who also have a mouth infection called P. gingivalis. The drug targets the bacteria, hoping to slow down memory loss and other symptoms. Participants take a daily capsule for up to 48 weeks, and neither they nor their doctors will know if they are getting the real drug or a placebo. A caregiver must join them for all study visits.
