New wire technique tested to save legs from amputation

NCT ID NCT06879561

Summary

This study is comparing two different methods doctors use to guide a procedure that opens blocked arteries in the lower leg. The goal is to see which method does a better job of restoring healthy blood flow to help heal foot wounds in people with severe circulation problems. About 100 patients with non-healing foot wounds will have their artery-opening procedure guided either by standard X-ray images or by a special wire that also measures pressure. Researchers will check if blood flow improves after the procedure and monitor wound healing for six months.
