First seen Jan 23, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 17 times
Summary
This study tests a device called AtriLASH that closes a small heart pouch (left atrial appendage) during planned heart surgery in 200 adults with atrial fibrillation. The goal is to reduce stroke risk and possibly lower the need for long-term blood thinners. Participants will be checked 3 months after surgery to see if the pouch stays closed and if there are any complications like stroke or bleeding.
