New 'LEEF' shoe aims to stop diabetic foot amputations with better looks and fit
NCT ID NCT07488104
Summary
This study is testing a new type of orthopedic shoe called the LEEF-shoe to see if it can prevent foot ulcers in people with diabetes-related nerve damage. Thirty participants will try both the new LEEF-shoe and a standard orthopedic shoe for four weeks each to compare pressure on the foot, how often they wear them, and which design they prefer. The goal is to see if the new shoe, which uses a simpler fitting process and has a more appealing look, works as well as or better than current shoes at reducing the high risk of ulcers that can lead to amputation.
