New camera could spare skin cancer patients from painful biopsies

NCT ID NCT07501780

First seen Apr 01, 2026 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 4 times

Summary

This study tests a non-invasive imaging technique called LC-OCT that may help doctors diagnose basal cell carcinoma (the most common skin cancer) without taking a tissue sample. Researchers will review medical records of about 300 adults who had LC-OCT scans in Dutch clinics to see how accurate the tool is compared to standard biopsy. The goal is to determine if LC-OCT can safely guide treatment decisions and reduce the need for invasive procedures.
