First seen Apr 10, 2026 · Last updated May 20, 2026 · Updated 5 times
Summary
This study tested whether inhaling lavender essential oil for 20 minutes before orthopedic surgery could reduce anxiety, stress, and depression. 128 adult patients in Jordan took part, with half receiving lavender and half receiving routine care. Results showed that the lavender group felt calmer and less stressed before their operation, suggesting aromatherapy may be a simple, safe way to improve emotional well-being before surgery.
