Brain scans reveal if laughing gas lifts depression
NCT ID NCT05528718
Summary
This small pilot study explored whether inhaling nitrous oxide (laughing gas) weekly could improve symptoms of major depression. Researchers used MRI brain scans to see if the treatment changed brain activity and connections in 11 participants. They compared laughing gas to a sedative placebo to understand its specific effects on mood.
