First seen Jan 11, 2026 · Last updated May 01, 2026 · Updated 19 times
Summary
This study tested a 4-week mental training program called lateralization imagery training in 34 adults (17 with chronic neck pain, 17 healthy). The training involved imagining neck movements to retrain the brain. Researchers measured pain, movement accuracy, fear of movement, and brain activity before and after the program. The goal was to see if this non-drug approach could reduce pain and improve body awareness.
