New seizures after 50? study tests if heart checks can prevent stroke
NCT ID NCT07116330
First seen Mar 10, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 14 times
Summary
This study looks at whether people who have their first seizure after age 50 should be checked for hidden heart and stroke risks like high blood pressure or diabetes. Researchers will screen 420 participants and track if starting treatments for these risks lowers their chance of stroke. The goal is to see if routine vascular checks should become standard care for late-onset seizures.
