Laser or stretching: which eases stubborn neck pain best?
NCT ID NCT07566637
First seen May 09, 2026 · Last updated Jun 20, 2026 · Updated 9 times
Summary
This study tested two treatments for chronic non-specific neck pain in 75 adults: low-intensity laser therapy and a type of stretching called proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation. Both were added to standard physical therapy. Researchers measured pain levels, pressure sensitivity, and disability to see which approach worked better. The goal is to find safer, non-drug ways to manage long-term neck pain.

What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Low-intensity laser therapy and proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation (stretching/strengthening exercises)
What this could lead to
If successful, this could point toward effective non-drug options for managing chronic neck pain and improving daily function.
What could go wrong
This is a small, completed trial with 75 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. The effects may be modest and not last long-term.
