Windpipe treatment showdown: laser vs. balloon

NCT ID NCT04719845

First seen May 15, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 2 times

Summary

This study compared two procedures for treating a narrowed windpipe (tracheal stenosis) that is not caused by cancer. The two methods are laser surgery to remove scar tissue and balloon dilation to stretch the airway. The goal was to see which approach better prevents the narrowing from coming back within two years. The study planned to enroll 108 adults but was stopped early.
