Windpipe treatment showdown: laser vs. balloon – which works better?
NCT ID NCT04719845
First seen May 15, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026
Summary
This study compared two procedures for treating a narrowed windpipe (tracheal stenosis) that is not caused by cancer. One method uses a laser to cut away scar tissue, the other uses a balloon to stretch the airway. The goal was to see which approach leads to fewer relapses over two years. The trial was stopped early, so results are limited.
