Laser may offer new hope for chronic vulvar condition

NCT ID NCT07240519

First seen Nov 21, 2025 · Last updated May 21, 2026 · Updated 21 times

Summary

This study tests whether a fractional CO2 laser can be a good alternative to the standard clobetasol ointment for treating vulvar lichen sclerosus, a chronic skin condition causing itching and pain. Forty women with no prior treatment will be randomly assigned to receive either the laser or the ointment. Researchers will measure changes in skin inflammation and symptoms like itching and pain to see if the laser works as well or better than the cream.
