Shining a light on nerve pain: can a laser ease chronic thigh discomfort?
NCT ID NCT07328360
Summary
This study is testing whether adding high-power laser therapy to standard care helps people with chronic meralgia paresthetica, a condition causing burning, tingling, and numbness in the outer thigh. Fifty adults with this pain for at least three months will be randomly assigned to receive either real laser treatment or a fake (sham) laser procedure alongside usual care like pain medication and lifestyle advice. Researchers will compare the two groups to see if the laser therapy leads to better pain relief and improved daily function.
