NCT ID NCT07213752
First seen Oct 31, 2025 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 34 times
Summary
This study tested whether adding a diode laser to standard deep-cleaning treatment helps smokers with severe gum disease. Thirty-three smokers were randomly assigned to get either standard cleaning alone or cleaning plus laser. After three months, the laser group had significantly shallower gum pockets and lower markers of oxidative stress. The findings suggest that laser therapy can improve gum health in smokers, who often heal more slowly.
