Scientists zap brains to unlock secrets of language

NCT ID NCT05283265

First seen Mar 13, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 10 times

Summary

This study looks at how the brain makes sense of sentences. Researchers will work with 153 epilepsy patients who already have electrodes in their brains for medical reasons. Participants will read or listen to sentences while their brain activity is recorded, and in some cases, mild electrical stimulation is applied to see how it affects understanding. The goal is to learn more about language processing, not to treat any condition.
