Summary
This study looked at whether giving lactoferrin, a protein naturally found in breast milk, could help prevent sepsis (a severe blood infection) in premature babies. The study included 180 preterm infants with low birth weight. Researchers gave the babies lactoferrin by mouth to see if it would boost their immune system and lower their risk of getting sepsis.
