First seen Mar 11, 2026 · Last updated May 17, 2026 · Updated 7 times
Summary
This observational study looks at how lactate, a natural substance, changes gut bacteria and how that might be linked to worsening liver cirrhosis. Researchers will compare 200 people with and without liver disease by measuring lactate in blood, stool, and tissue samples. No treatment or drug is given — the goal is simply to understand the connection better.
