First seen Jan 17, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 11 times
Summary
This study tests whether giving lactase enzyme supplements to very premature babies (born at 32 weeks or earlier) can prevent feeding intolerance, a common problem in the NICU. About 120 infants will receive either the supplement or a placebo alongside their first feeds. The goal is to see if the enzyme reduces vomiting, abdominal swelling, and other feeding-related issues.
