Blood thinner may prevent stroke in heart muscle disease patients

NCT ID NCT07202897

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 27 times

Summary

This study tests whether the blood thinner rivaroxaban can prevent strokes in people with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) who have early signs of heart strain but no irregular heartbeat. About 532 adults aged 40-80 with HCM and abnormal left atrial strain will be randomly assigned to take rivaroxaban or a placebo. The goal is to see if early use of this medication reduces the risk of stroke, heart attack, or death.
