First seen Jan 06, 2026 · Last updated May 21, 2026 · Updated 20 times
Summary
This study looked at whether taking L-carnitine or Coenzyme Q10 supplements could reduce oxidative stress (a type of cell damage) in adults with end-stage kidney disease who are on hemodialysis. 52 patients took one of the supplements or a placebo for 12 weeks, then stopped for another 12 weeks. Researchers measured blood markers of oxidative stress before, during, and after treatment to see if the supplements helped.
