Kneecap pop? new study tests rehab vs. surgery for young athletes
NCT ID NCT06926699
First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 30 times
Summary
This study compares two treatments for young people (ages 10-25) who have dislocated their kneecap for the first time within the past 6 months. Half will receive standard rest and physical therapy, while the other half will have early surgery to repair the ligament. Researchers will track which group has fewer repeat dislocations, less pain, and better knee function over one year. The goal is to find out if early surgery is better than rehab alone for preventing long-term knee problems.
