Nerve blocks or just an injection? new study tests better pain relief after knee surgery

NCT ID NCT06410612

First seen Apr 28, 2026 · Last updated May 18, 2026 · Updated 5 times

Summary

This study looked at 174 adults who had knee replacement surgery to see which pain relief method works better: a combination of nerve blocks and an injection around the knee, or the injection alone. The goal was to find out which approach reduces pain and the need for opioid painkillers in the first two weeks after surgery. Participants used a smartphone app to report their pain levels and medication use.
