Knee surgery showdown: burr or saw – which tool stays cooler?
NCT ID NCT07010809
First seen Feb 16, 2026 · Last updated May 25, 2026 · Updated 9 times
Summary
This study looks at how hot the bone gets during knee replacement surgery when using two different cutting tools: a burr (used in robotic surgery) and a saw (used in traditional surgery). Twenty patients having a total knee replacement will be observed, and a special thermometer will measure the temperature during the procedure. The goal is to see which tool causes less heat damage to the bone, but the results won't change the patient's surgery plan.
