Knee pain may mess with your Joint's sense of position
NCT ID NCT07642011
First seen Jun 17, 2026 · Last updated Jun 23, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study looks at how knee pain intensity relates to the knee's ability to sense its own position (proprioception) in people with patellofemoral pain syndrome. Researchers will measure pain and joint position error during a single-leg squat in 82 adults aged 18–35. The goal is to better understand the link between pain and movement control, which could guide future rehabilitation.

What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
What this could lead to
If successful, this study could help design better rehabilitation exercises for patellofemoral pain syndrome by clarifying how pain affects knee awareness.
What could go wrong
This is an observational study with no treatment, so it won't directly improve symptoms. Results may not apply to all patients with knee pain.
