Could your own belly fat fix your aching knee? early trial says maybe

NCT ID NCT03940950

First seen Feb 01, 2026 · Last updated Jun 15, 2026 · Updated 11 times

Summary

This early study tested whether injecting a special mixture of cells from a person's own belly fat into their arthritic knee is safe and doable. Nine adults with knee osteoarthritis received the injection. The main goal was to check for side effects, not to measure pain relief, so we don't yet know if it works.
