Ultrasound tracks hidden knee ligament recovery after keyhole surgery

NCT ID NCT06863077

First seen Mar 19, 2026 · Last updated May 25, 2026 · Updated 10 times

Summary

This study looks at how well the medial collateral ligament (MCL) in the knee heals after a procedure called pie-crusting, which is used during arthroscopic surgery to fix a torn meniscus. Researchers will use a special ultrasound technique to measure the ligament's tension before surgery and again at 3 weeks, 6 weeks, and 3 months after. The goal is to see if the ligament returns to normal strength and to address concerns about long-term knee instability. Thirty adults with medial meniscus tears who are already scheduled for surgery will take part.
