Kinesio tape study aims to uncover muscle secrets
NCT ID NCT07572201
First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study will test whether applying kinesio tape to the calf muscle changes muscle oxygen levels, pain sensitivity, and muscle stiffness in 50 healthy young adults. Participants will be randomly assigned to receive either real kinesio tape or a placebo tape. The goal is to learn more about how this popular tape affects muscles, which could inform future therapies.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only, not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- Kinesio tape
- What this could lead to
- If successful, this could provide a better understanding of how kinesio taping works on muscles, potentially guiding future treatments for muscle recovery or pain.
- What could go wrong
- This is a small, early-stage study in healthy individuals, so results may not apply to people with injuries or conditions. The effects measured may be subtle or not clinically meaningful.
