Stitch showdown: which suture pattern saves time and boosts blood flow in kidney transplants?

NCT ID NCT07274943

First seen Jan 04, 2026 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 22 times

Summary

This study looks at two standard stitching methods (interrupted vs. continuous) used to connect the kidney artery to the iliac artery during living donor kidney transplants. Researchers will review past cases and follow 70 new adult patients at Assiut University to see which technique shortens cold ischemia time and improves early blood flow. The goal is to find out if one method leads to better kidney function and fewer complications in the first three months after surgery.
